A provision tucked inside a biennial workers’ compensation budget bill passed by the Ohio House of Representatives on Wednesday would bar illegal aliens from collecting benefits if injured on the job or suing their employers in tort for occupational injuries unless they can prove the employer knew they were not legal residents or intended to harm them.
Voting strictly along party lines, the House passed HB 27 by a 66-31 vote, with all Democrats dissenting.
