California Gov. Gavin Newsom on Monday proposed an additional $1.5 million in funding to increase staff working on claims involving the Subsequent Injuries Benefits Trust Fund, starting in 2023.
“The budget includes $2.5 million and 15 positions in 2022-23, increasing to $4 million and 24 positions in 2023-24 and ongoing from the Workers’ Compensation Administration Revolving Fund to provide permanent resources to review claims,” the governor’s budget says under the “Major Program Changes” heading for the Department of Industrial Relations.
