A judge dismissed a workers' compensation fraud indictment against a former New York state correctional officer on Wednesday, the Times Herald-Record newspaper reported. Prosecutors last year charged Dennis Gillan of Monroe, N.Y. with defrauding the New York State Insurance Fund by hunting while he was being compensated for a back injury, the newspaper said. But Orange County Court Judge Jeffrey G. Berry dismissed the charges, and a grand jury found sufficient evidence to reindict Gillan on only three of the original seven charges he faced.
