The U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration intends to start collecting workplace injury information electronically from large employers next year and will make the data available to the public, in a plan that some are calling “regulation by shaming.”
The new OSHA rule, published in its final form last month and set to take effect on Jan. 1, also addresses the thorny issue of post-injury drug testing as well as the use of safety incentive programs that may discourage workers from reporting injuries.
