The widespread protests over police brutality may be producing an unintended and ironic consequence: An expected spike in COVID-19 illnesses and comp claims among law enforcement officers sent to handle the crowds.
“It's a ticking bomb,” said Charley Wilkison, executive director of the Combined Law Enforcement Associations of Texas. “If we don't see a spike in cases after all these protests, it will be a big blessing.”
