Measure Would Allow Coverage of Mental Injury Claims for First Responders, National Guard

Police, firefighters, emergency medical service personnel and members of the Kentucky National Guard would not be required to show a physical injury to have a compensable claim for a mental injury, under recently introduced legislation. House Bill 363, by Rep. Lindsey Burke, D-Lexington, would also create a presumption that post-traumatic stress disorder is compensable for the same group of employees.
