A Southern California law firm representing qualified medical evaluators and injured workers will ask a judge next week to force the Division of Workers' Compensation to allow remote evaluations without fear of penalty in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The law firm and would-be plaintiffs said for weeks they’ve been asking officials from the DWC and Department of Industrial Relations to enact an emergency policy change allowing QMEs to conduct evaluations remotely to help stem the spread of the coronavirus.
