New Hampshire Gov. Kelly Ayotte signed a bill allowing contractors to voluntarily participate in portable benefit plans without altering their legal independent status.
The governor signed HB 1245 on July 2, according to a notice posted to the legislature's website Friday.
The bill allows a business or person hiring an independent contractor to voluntarily contribute funds to the contractor's portable benefit account that can be used to pay for health insurance, disability coverage and other related expenses.
