DANA POINT, California – Department of Industrial Relations Director Christine Baker on Thursday called on employers and carriers to help her agency "bring back the humanity" to the California workers' compensation system, now that the dust from the changes wrought by the passage of Senate Bill 863 has begun to settle. This latest overhaul of the Labor Code, signed into law in October 2012, was "intended to make the system more efficient" and "eliminate fraud and abuse," Baker said.
