Scrap Recycler Receives $497,000 in Fines after Worker Dies in Conveyor Belt Accident

The Occupational Safety and Health Administration has fined Behr Iron and Steel $497,000 and placed the company in its severe violator program after a worker died at a recycling facility in South Beloit, Illinois, in March. The citation is the latest in a line of OSHA troubles for the company. According to a Thursday press release, the administration has inspected Behr six times in the past five years at different facilities in Illinois and Iowa.
