The Washington State Department of Labor and Industries announced that a woman who ran an adult family home while claiming she was too injured to work is facing a felony charge in a $60,000 work comp fraud case.
Serah Kamau, 52, pleaded not guilty to one count of first-degree theft and was ordered to return to court in September for trial.
Charging papers allege that Kamau stole more than $60,000 in indemnity benefits by operating the Brookhouse Adult Family Home in 2021 and 2022 while she was still receiving work comp benefits.
