Former Kentucky state Rep. Tanya Pullin was sworn in Tuesday as an administrative law judge for the Department of Workers' Claims, according to a report by the Portsmouth Daily Times.

Chief Kentucky Supreme Court Justice John Minton administered the oath of office during a ceremony at the State Capitol in Frankfort.
WorkCompCentral reported on Pullin's appointment to the post by Gov. Matt Bevins last month. Pullin is a Democrat and Bevins is a Republican, leading some pundits to speculate that the governor offered the appointment with hopes of increasing the GOP's majority in the state House of Representatives.
A special election to fill Pullin's vacant seat in the House will be held March 8, the newspaper said.
