There was little change in total costs per claim in Virginia in recent years, and growth in claim costs was lower than what was typical among the 18 states studied by the Workers Compensation Research Institute.
“This slow growth in Virginia reflects little change in medical payments per claim after the state implemented a medical fee schedule in 2018,” WCRI Vice President of Research Sebastian Negrusa said in a statement. “The other components of costs were growing similarly to what we observe in other study states.”
