The state Senate Judiciary Committee approved a bill that would create a presumption of compensability for firefighters who contract various types of cancer and respiratory diseases.The committee approved Senate Bill 211, by Sen. Tory Rocca, R-Sterling Heights, during its Tuesday afternoon meeting. The bill would create a rebuttable presumption that a firefighter's cancer or respiratory condition is work-related.
