The California Department of Insurance found 13 businesses operating without workers’ compensation insurance during what it described as both a statewide, multi-agency outreach effort and a sweep.
The Insurance Department and enforcement teams from five different state agencies “swept across the state” and visited more than 50 businesses to educate owners about their obligations to comply with insurance licensing, workplace safety and labor laws, tax codes and other regulations.
