Republican lawmakers have introduced bills that would take Virginia off the short list of states that don't have workers' compensation medical provider fee schedules.
Unlike states that base their fee schedules on Medicare rates, Virginia would use a prevailing community rate that would be calculated for six different regions. The hope is that the alternative method for calculating the fee schedule will be palatable enough to health care providers to quell opposition that sank previous attempts to adopt a fee schedule.
