Georgia state Sen. Ralph T. Hudgens was elected state insurance commissioner Tuesday and will replace Insurance Commissioner John Oxendine in January.Hudgens, R-Hull, has served in the Senate since 2002 and is chairman of the Senate Insurance and Labor Committee.Last session, he played a key role in passing bailout legislation for the former policyholders of failed workers' compensation carrier Southeastern U.S. Insurance Co.
