Amerisafe Reports Increased Competition but Boosts Annual Profit

Amerisafe Inc. has reported net income of $18.8 million for the fourth quarter of 2018, compared to net income of $649,000 in the fourth quarter of 2017. For full year 2018, net income was $71.6 million, up 55% from $46.2 million in 2017. Net income in the fourth quarter of 2017 was impacted by a revaluation of net deferred tax assets at a new, lower corporate rate under tax reform, company officials noted during a conference call.
