The Mississippi Legislature failed to act on two bills this month that the Workers' Compensation Commission had requested, one of which would have stabilized funding for the agency and the other would have reduced attorney solicitation of injured workers.
House Bill 750 would have exempted workers' compensation claims information from the state's open records laws. The first reports of injury contain personal information about the claimant, the injury, the employer and more, and the information is regularly sent to those who request it.
