A federal judge ordered Carlos Arguello to serve 48 months in prison for his role in a kickback scheme that generated net income of more than $5 million, according to court documents.
Arguello pleaded guilty to a federal conspiracy charge in August 2016. A federal grand jury indictment accused him and co-defendant Fermin Iglesias of using a company called Providence Scheduling to steer patients to providers. In exchange, the providers were required to meet quotas for services that were provided by other participants in the cross-referral scheme.
