The California Senate Appropriations Committee is scheduled to hear a bill on Thursday that would create a cost-of-living adjustment for permanent partial disability benefits.
The COLA for PPD benefits would be the same as the annual adjustment for Social Security benefits under SB 555, by Sen. Anna Cabalero, D-Fresno.
Average weekly wages used to calculate PPD benefits range from $240 to $435, and supporters of the bill said during a Senate committee hearing last year that monthly benefits have been capped at $1,256 since 2014.
Opponents acknowledged that benefits haven't been adjusted...
