DWC Revises Medical Fee Dispute Rules After Adverse Court Ruling

The Florida Division of Workers’ Compensation has proposed a new rule that would triple the amount of time carriers have to produce the documents they need to deny payment for medical bills.  Under the current rule, insurers have 10 days to file with the DWC a Carrier Response to Petition for Resolution of Reimbursement Dispute Form (DFS Form 3160-0024), which asks carriers why and how they arrived at their reimbursement amount.  The proposed amendment would increase that time frame to 30 days.
