Insys, a pharmaceutical company accused of pushing doctors to prescribe its opioid painkiller drug Subsys for nonapproved uses, has agreed to pay $1.1 million to settle allegations of misconduct with Oregon's attorney general.
About half of the settlement will go to the state, while the other half will go toward a nongovernmental organization that prevents opioid misuse and abuse, according to a Wednesday press release from the attorney general. Insys' total sales of Subsys in Oregon were $511,000 during the time the state was investigating the company.
