The Ohio Bureau of Workers’ Compensation is considering adoption of a rule that would allow opioids to be prescribed only for claims in which best practices, as defined by the State Medical Board, would be prescribed, the bureau announced Thursday.
The proposed rule was presented at the monthly meeting of the BWC Board of Directors Medical Services and Safety Committee pm Thursday. The proposed Ohio Administrative Code 4123-6-21.7 would prohibit reimbursement for opioid prescriptions when the physician hasn't followed Medical Board best practices.
