A California appellate court revived a worker’s suit against a property owner for injuries he sustained when a ladder pulled loose from the side of a building.

Facts: In 2001, Sean A. Amin and his brother acquired a lot in Modesto for the purpose of developing it.
They hired an engineering firm, Morad Engineering, and a general contractor, J.V. Construction, to complete two buildings: a warehouse-style building at the back of the lot and a one-story office building for commercial tenants at the front.
