Farm to Pay $2.1 Million to Settle Citations Connected to COVID Deaths

The Washington State Department of Labor and Industries announced a $2.1 million settlement with a farm that received what the agency called one of the largest workplace safety and health fines in state history. Gebbers Farms Operations was fined $2,038,200 and $13,200 after two inspections in 2020 identified 24 egregious willful violations, L&I said. The farm received 12 citations for unsafe sleeping arrangements in temporary worker housing and 12 citations for unsafe worker transportation during the pandemic.
