Hawaii Gov. David Ige signed a bill requiring the Department of Labor and Industrial Relations to hire an actuarial firm to study workers’ compensation claims and determine whether the Legislature needs to make any changes to the state’s laws.
House Bill 2715, by Rep. Mark Nakashima, D-Hamakua, will allocate $150,000 to pay for a review of closed claims involving private employees and people working for state agencies. The study must be completed by Nov. 30, 2017, and final recommendations must be submitted to lawmakers at least 20 days before the 2018 legislative session...
