A bill proposing to expand the presumption that heart trouble is a compensable condition was amended to specify that California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation workers must be peace officers to qualify.
Assembly Bill 1125, by Assemblymember Stephanie Nguyen, D-Elk Grove, would declare the presumption that heart trouble arose from employment applies to any of the approximately 700 peace officers working at any of the Department of State Hospitals' five facilities in the state.
The bill would also apply the presumption to some Department of Corrections workers.
