Twelve state attorneys general have called on the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency to abandon a proposal to roll back regulations that protect first responders and other workers from chemical accidents.
Amendments made in 2017 to EPA’s Risk Management Program regulations added safeguards against explosions, fires, poisonous gas releases, and other accidents at facilities that store and use toxic chemicals, according to a news release from Illinois Attorney General Lisa Madigan.
