Gov. Jay Nixon signed a bill into law aimed at restoring the insolvent Second Injury Fund and placing occupational diseases back within the workers' compensation system. Nixon announced Wednesday that he officially signed Senate Bill 1 into law. The bill, which was authored by state Sen. Scott Rupp, R-Wentzville, would restore funding to the Second Injury Fund's coffers by increasing employers' premium assessments from 3% to 6% during the next three years.
