Jiu Jitsu Competitor Charged with Workers' Comp Fraud

A garbage collector for the city of Fresno has been charged with five counts of insurance fraud after investigators learned he had participated in a jiu jitsu competition two days before he filed a workers' compensation claim. The Fresno County District Attorney's Office filed the charges against 40-year-old Joseph Paul Fabits III of Clovis on April 14. Prosecutors say he knowingly made false statements during depositions in an effort to obtain compensation he was not entitled to.
