Governor Signs Bill for Advisory Council Member Immunity

Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal (R) has signed House Bill 126 by Rep. Herbert Dixon, D-Alexandria, which gives civil immunity, in relation to performing their duties, to members of the Medical Advisory Council and the Workers' Compensation Advisory Council.The councils advise the Office of Workers’ Compensation Administration and the governor on workers' compensation issues.HB 126 provides that no member of the councils will be liable for any action performed as a result of his or her duties as a member (except for intentional misconduct), or be subject to a subpoena or be required t...
