DWC Proposes Regulations to Transition to ICD-10 in October

The Division of Workers' Compensation is preparing for the possibility that the U.S. Centers for Medicare and Medicaid will update medical billing codes on Oct. 1 with proposed rules that would implement the ICD-10 coding system in California. CMS originally intended to abandon the 9th edition of the International Statistical Classification of Diseases and Related Health Problems and adopt the 10th edition in October 2013.
