A 15-count indictment handed down Thursday by a federal grand jury alleges a Northern California union boss accepted kickbacks for referring injured workers to an applicants' attorney.
Daniel Rush, 54, the executive director of the United Food and Commercial Workers union, was charged with organizing medical marijuana dispensary workers. As a result of his union position, he also served as treasurer and on the board of directors for the Instituto de Laboral de la Raza.
The Instituto is a nonprofit that provides labor advice to low-income workers.
