DCBS: 10 of 35 Workers Killed Last Year Were Drivers

The Oregon Department of Consumer and Business Services' Workers' Compensation Division has released a report detailing 35 claims accepted for fatality benefits last year. Among the 35 deaths, 12 were attributed to roadway accidents, seven were due to being struck by or against an object, and six resulted from caught-in or compressed-by incidents. When sorted by occupation, 10 motor vehicle operators and six logging workers died last year. Eleven of the workers who died last year were in their first year on the job, including four who had been with the employer for less than a month...
