Virginia lawmakers have passed a bill to maintain a 0.5% cap on assessments to support the Uninsured Employer’s Fund.
The cap was scheduled to drop to 0.25% on July 1, but lawmakers repealed the clause that would have lowered the cap when they passed House Bill 82 on Monday.
The bill, which affects insurance carriers and self-insured employers, now heads to Gov. Ralph Northam’s desk.
It passed the Senate last week by a 26-13 vote. It passed the House by a vote of 99-0 in January.
