The Injured Workers’ Insurance Fund would be required to serve as the third-party administrator for Maryland’s self-insured workers’ compensation program for state employees, under a bill moving through the General Assembly.
Maryland lawmakers in 2012 enacted legislation converting IWIF into the private carrier now known as Chesapeake Employers Insurance Co. Though the functions, liabilities and obligations of IWIF transferred to Chesapeake, some staff remained IWIF employees.
