Workers’ compensation average premiums in Texas decreased by more than 50% from 2003 to 2012, according to the Texas Department of Insurance’s biennial report analyzing the impact of the workers’ compensation reforms in 2005’s House Bill 7.
The report, released Monday, also shows that total medical costs for professional services had been an increasing trend since 2008, but have leveled off or decreased slightly since 2011. Total hospital costs had been an increasing trend since 2006 until 2011, but have been in a level or marginally decreasing trend since then.
