House Passes Electronic Service Bill

The Arizona House of Representatives on Thursday passed a bill that would presume parties agree to electronic service of documents such as subpoenas or legal summons. The House voted 48-11 to pass HB 2033, by Rep. David Livingston, R-Peoria. The bill would authorize transmitting documents electronically "in a manner reasonably calculated to achieve effective notice, unless the receiving party opts out by providing written notice to the other party."
