Utah lawmakers passed a bill that would create a rebuttable presumption that first responders and health care workers contracted COVID-19 by accident during the course of employment.
The state House of Representatives voted 74-0 to pass HB 3007 on Thursday, the same day the Senate voted 25-3 to pass the measure.
The bill, by Rep. Francis Gibson, R-Mapleton, would take effect immediately if signed into law and apply to COVID-19 diagnoses on or after March 21.
