Two Companies Cited for Asbestos Violations

The U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration has fined an upstate New York contractor $168,772 for improper asbestos removal and disposal. Rex Harper, doing business as REH Property Maintenance, was cited Aug. 5 by OSHA in connection with work being performed for Superior Steel Door & Trim Co. Inc. in Jamestown, New York.  Superior had contracted with Harper to remove asbestos from piping, OSHA said. Superior was also cited for asbestos-related violations.
