Former California state Sen. Ronald Calderon admitted in a plea agreement signed Saturday that he tried to preserve the workers’ compensation spinal pass-through in exchange for $30,000 in bribes he solicited from Michael D. Drobot.
Calderon, a Montebello Democrat, pleaded guilty to “mail fraud through the deprivation of honest services,” which is defined in part as participating in a scheme to defraud the public of honest representation through bribery or kickbacks.
