Markel, an insurance carrier, has appointed a new president for its workers' compensation policy-writing specialty division.
Matt Parker succeeded Greg Thompson as president of Markel Specialty on Wednesday, according to a press release from the company. Parker has worked for Markel since the company acquired his previous employer, FirstComp, in 2006. Prior to that, Parker spent 15 years working in leadership roles for Gillette and Proctor & Gamble, according to the statement.
Thompson will go to work in the company's program administrator business.
