The California Assembly unanimously passed bills that would address investment and assessment procedures for the state’s insolvent insurer backstop and allow carriers to continue paying workers’ compensation indemnity benefits using debit cards.
The Assembly on Thursday voted 65-0 to pass AB 2154, which would make changes to statutes relating to the California Insurance Guarantee Association. The Assembly also voted 65-0 on Thursday to pass AB 2148, which would extend the statute authorizing prepaid debit cards for indemnity benefits.
