Assembly Passes Debit Card Payment, CIGA Bills

The California Assembly unanimously passed bills that would address investment and assessment procedures for the state’s insolvent insurer backstop and allow carriers to continue paying workers’ compensation indemnity benefits using debit cards. The Assembly on Thursday voted 65-0 to pass AB 2154, which would make changes to statutes relating to the California Insurance Guarantee Association.
