Shirin Emami was named acting superintendent of the New York Department of Financial Services.
Emami replaces Linda Lacewell, who resigned, effective Monday, along with former Gov. Andrew Cuomo. Earlier in August, Lacewell announced that she would move on and make way for new Gov. Kathy Hochul to appoint a new insurance and banking regulator.
Emami has been with the Department of Financial Services for more than seven years. Most recently, she served as executive deputy superintendent of the banking division.
