An excavating company owner has admitted to falsifying his workers' compensation coverage certificate in a bid to get a contract from an Ohio city.
William Newell, of Pleasantville, pleaded guilty to fraud and must repay just over $5,000 to the Ohio Bureau of Workers' Compensation.
Newell was caught after the bureau received a tip that he submited an altered certificate of coverage for his business, Bill Newell Excavating, when he bid for a contract with the city of Lancaster.
