Union Chief: City Terminates Firefighters Out With Injuries

The city of Stratford, Connecticut, wrongly fired two firefighters who remain off work with injuries they sustained in the line of duty, the local firefighters' union leader says. According to a report in the New Haven Register, Steven Michalovic, president of Stratford Professional Firefighters IAFF 998, said the two were terminated on June 13 for an "alleged failure to provide a definitive return-to-work date" and called their firings "unconscionable."
