Judge Reduces Disability Discrimination Award

A California appellate court reduced the amount of damages that a disabled woman would receive in a disability discrimination suit. In January of 2001, Anahid Mnaskanian suffered an injury while moving boxes on behalf of her employer, 21st Century Insurance. She was unable to return to work until 22 months later, and then only in a limited capacity. The company learned of Mnaskanian's work restrictions in January of 2003, yet failed to find her a new position that would accommodate her new restrictions, according to the court record.
