In a sign that the pendulum may be starting to swing, legislation to loosen restrictions on opioid prescribing is cropping up in a few states.
Proposals to eliminate prior authorization requirements for opioid prescriptions or increase the number of pills that can be prescribed haven’t seen much success yet. But the efforts may be picking up steam.
“They’re sort of setting the stage,” said Brian Allen, vice president of government affairs for Mitchell’s Pharmacy Solutions. “I’m starting to hear a lot about it.”
