A state lawmaker is making a second attempt to require workers' compensation carriers to pay doctors for medical opinions requested after the carrier disputes the extent of a worker's compensable injury.
Fort Worth Democrat Rep. Nicole Collier's first version of the bill, HB 2326, passed the House but failed to garner enough momentum in the Senate to reach a vote before the regular session adjourned.
The Legislature reconvened last week for a special session, and Collier reintroduced the measure on its second day. The bill is now called HB 233.
